As the move-in date nears, you begin to realize that the apartment or house might need a good cleaning. This guide will help you get started with a clean space.

To simplify the cleaning process before moving into your new home, we created a move-in checklist that you can download. This checklist contains all the cleaning tasks that you should complete as you settle into your new home.

Check off items as you go. You can use the checklist on your smartphone or print it and stick it to the refrigerator of your new house. 

How to clean a house before you move in

We recommend that you follow these steps if you decide to do the work yourself:

2. After cleaning the fridge, clean the rest of your kitchen. Make sure to clean all appliances thoroughly. Do not worry about the floor.
3. Next up, bathrooms! You’ll need to do a thorough cleaning of the bathroom. Disinfect all surfaces and give them a new start.
4. Work from left to right and top to bottom to clean the rest of the rooms. Clean the frames and windows of any light fixtures and fans, and wipe down all baseboards. To save time, do each task in every room before moving on to the next.
5. The floors are the last step. Vacuum or sweep first, and then mop. Deep clean your carpets if you can. It’s easy to do this when your home is empty.
